In the course of your employment or assignment as a self-employed, voluntary or student placement worker and/or any other associated work with Solutions4Health, you may have access to, see or hear, secrets or confidential information. You must not disclose any secrets or other information of a confidential nature relating to Solutions4Health or its business, or in respect of any obligation of confidence which Solutions4Health owes to staff, patients or any third party, during or after your employment has ended except in the proper course of your employment or as required by law. Confidential information concerning the medical or personal affairs of patients, staff or associated healthcare professionals should not be divulged or discussed except when acting on the instructions of an authorised officer, or in the performance of your normal duties. Breach of confidence, including the improper passing of registered computer data, will result in action being taken under the disciplinary procedure, which may include dismissal.
You should also be aware that regardless of any action taken by Solutions4Health, a breach of confidential information or disclosures of any data of a personal nature could result in prosecution for an offence under The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), General Data Protection Act 1998 and any other predecessor acts and laws, or a civil action against you for damages.
You must ensure that client records, including information on VDU screens and
computer printouts of registered data, are never left in such a manner that unauthorised persons can obtain access to them. VDU screens must always be cleared when left unattended and you must ensure you log out of computer systems, removing any password(s). All computer passwords must be kept confidential. All client details and monitoring forms must be locked away.
Any documents or tangible items which belong to Solutions4Health or which contain any confidential information must not be removed from Solutions4Health’s premises at any time without proper authorisation, and must be returned to Solutions4Health upon request and, in any event, upon the termination of your employment.
If requested by Solutions4Health, all confidential information, other documents and
tangible items which contain or refer to any confidential information, and which are in your possession or under your control, must be deleted or destroyed.
During the course of your employment you may have access to systems that store Patient Identifiable Information (PID). It is strictly forbidden for staff to access their own records or those of family or friends via our systems and any unauthorised access of this nature will be dealt with in line with our disciplinary procedures, which could result in your dismissal.
